OL Connect 2021.1
The first release for 2021 includes thin client support for Citrix and Microsoft Remote Desktop Services for OL Connect Send, security enhancements for OL Connect Server, improved condition wizards in the Designer and a whole lot more.
In the 1.8 version of OL Connect Send we have added support for both Citrix and Microsoft’s Remote Desktop Services environments.
Users can now get the browser pop-up when printing from a desktop on a multi-user system for the interactive OL Connect Send experience.
Unlike before, users sharing a single machine will be identified by the machine ID / user name combination.
As part of the ongoing effort to improve security, OL Connect Server now has the option to use and/or accept https connections from clients such OL Connect Workflow and Designer.
The Designer’s condition wizard for elements and the wizard for conditional print sections have been dramatically improved allowing more complex rules to be created without the need to script!
The new Send to Server option in the Designer allows users to upload configurations and templates directly to web applications (arbitrary URL). Customers with their own workflow engines will now have an even easier way to deploy, use and test their OL Connect resources.
The interface is identical to the Send to Workflow option and an application preference is available to setup the host and credentials for one or more web applications.
Designing web-based solutions becomes much more straightforward now that the DataMapper supports JSON as a native data type, no conversion required! The power of JSONPath selectors helps you streamline the data extraction process, allowing you to handle huge record sizes effortlessly.
Looping through data can be time consuming, especially when the item you were looking for is found early in the process. You can now interrupt a loop and move to the next step in order to make the flow more efficient.
You can streamline your loops even further now that you are no longer required to include a Goto step inside certain loops; this allows you to loop through, for instance, JSON structures without having to move the data pointer, making the operation less error-prone and more efficient.
Do you make copies of records so that one goes to administration, one to the customer and another one to the archiving process? You can now change the contents of each record copy, allowing the Designer Template to know which copy it is currently operating on.
You can also change field values and add new lines to detail tables programmatically, which allows you to efficiently deal with JSON arrays and structures.
Sometimes your PDF is print-ready and doesn’t need to be processed with a Template. You can now send your PDF directly from the DataMapper to the Job Creation, skipping the time-consuming Content Creation task entirely.
The name of the LPD queue that receives a job is now stored in JobInfo 6, allowing you to build a single process that can handle jobs coming from multiple queues. This feature will help you cut down on the number of distinct processes required to handle all print queues.
Web-based processes are easier than ever to design with the help of several improvements implemented in the NodeJS Server module; the handling of form submissions and custom responses has been expanded, while the decoding of parameters and charsets has be strengthened.
Have fun exploring the new features!
